As long as you’re designing a summer home makeover, why not cool things down with gorgeous tile flooring? With so many styles and looks to choose from, including natural stone and wood-look tiles, Creative Floors has something for every interior design taste.

Enhance The Look & Feel Of Your Central Florida Home With Luxury Tile

Gone are the days when “tile flooring” automatically means 12×12 white tiles or a terracotta tile application for tropical or Mediterranean looks. These days, luxury manufacturers produce tile options in a seemingly infinite array of designs and sizes.

Benefits of Tile Floors: Cool, Clean, & Easy to Maintain

In addition to being durable and low maintenance, not to mention hypoallergenic, tile flooring is the coolest option around, making it an ideal choice for Central Florida’s endless summer heat.

Enjoy The Cool Neutralizing Effects of Tile

While flooring tiles don’t reduce the room’s temperature, they do have noticeable cooling effects. Firstly, they feel cool on bare feet, and that cools the blood circulating through your entire system. In that way, they are literally cooling to the touch and your internal temperature. Then, you can always use custom area rugs to soften certain areas or to warm things up a bit when the cooler season arrives.

Also, tiles reflect, rather than absorb, heat, which creates more neutral temperatures in the home. This includes reflecting conditioned air into the airspace, which helps maintain more consistently cool temperatures in the home.

Finally, this cooling effect is a real game-changer for your furry canine friends. Since dogs don’t have sweat glands on their skin, their body temperature is cooled through panting, as well as by releasing heat through their nose and paws. If you have dogs that are particularly sensitive to heat, we highly recommend installing tile floors in the areas where they spend the most time to reduce their risk of overheating during the hot summer season.

Easy to Clean & Maintain

When it comes to keeping and maintaining a clean floor, tile is about as easy as it gets. This is also why tile is considered one of the most hypoallergenic flooring options available.

  • Sweeping. Tile floors can be quickly swept of any dry debris (dust, dirt, fur, pollen, food debris, etc.) to keep the surfaces tidy. If you have little ones – or your pets leave a little kibble behind after each meal – a cursory sweep into a dustpan keeps surfaces debris-free.
  • Rag or dry mop. A soft, dry towel, rag, or mop can swiftly absorb water or non-sticky liquids. We recommend keeping a basket of rags for this purpose next to any exterior entrance more likely to bring in the wet, like the patio entrance from the pool, the garden, etc.
  • Vacuuming. Look for vacuums that have a hard surface floor attachment. These tend to do a better job than sweeping because the combination of the attachment’s sweeping brush and the vacuuming power removes dry debris right up, reducing the chances of it getting pushed around or airborne. However, unless you’re using a shop vacuum or a unit that can handle moisture, only use the vacuum on dry tiles.
  • Damp mopping. We, and most manufacturers, recommend wet mopping tile floors once a week to keep them looking their best. Damp mopping is also the best way to minimize allergens, which can become airborne when you sweep or dry mop. Any tile options can be mopped with warm water and a mild, abrasive-free liquid detergent. However, you can follow the manufacturer’s instructions about specific cleaning products, depending on your tile material. Always be careful after damp mopping, as tile floors are slippery when wet.

If you have a busy household, we can discuss tile options that are less likely to show the inevitable debris from everyday life. This includes options like wood-look tile with grain patterns, natural stone-look tiles, or tiles that have changes in color or pattern.

  • Grout care: Finally, your tiles are visually tied together using grout joints. Unlike many tile products (except for some natural stones), grout is porous, making it more susceptible to staining, mildew, or mold. However, todays grout has much more stain resistance and is easier to care for.

Extraordinary Durability

Many of the world’s most iconic buildings have tile floors that have lasted for centuries – and even millennia. This is because tile floors are extraordinarily durable, as long as you select the right product for the location and the tiles are installed expertly.

Your tile’s durability depends on:

  1. Selecting the right tile for the space. The Creative Floors team is dedicated to getting to know our clients and their lifestyle, so we can ensure they choose the right flooring for their application. Some tiles are less successful in heavily foot-trafficked areas, like hallways or kitchens. For example, marble is gorgeous, but it’s also a softer, porous stone, so it stains, scratches, etches, and chips more easily than porcelain or ceramic. So, you prefer marble, we may recommend luxurious tile options that replicate marble but are harder, non-porous, and easier to maintain.
  2. Top-notch subfloor preparation. The subfloor must be level and expertly prepared so tiles can be affixed securely and remain stable year after year. Any uneven subfloor sections or incorrectly prepared adhesive can cause tiles to chip, crack, or pop out of place.
  3. Professional tile flooring installation. There’s nothing more aggravating than spending time and energy on a DIY or amateur flooring tile installation, only to stare at crooked or poorly cut and aligned tiles. It’s an eyesore. You should always invest in professional tile installation to ensure the tiles and grout are laid correctly—and attractively—from start to finish.

When you’ve chosen the right tiles and hired reputable flooring installers, you’ll benefit from timeless, durable floors that last for decades.
